Cinnamon cream cheese Red Velvet Whoopie pies


Happy valentine’s day – family day – long WEEKEND!!

 What a week, I’m so ready for an abundance of lovey-dovey movies on T.V – some quiet time and wine … ahhh the wine!! This long weekend I seriously hope to do nothing … I say that as I type on my work laptop that I brought home #FML …

Good news is, that no matter what I’ll sleep in … until *bzzz bzzz bzzz * —> that would be my blackberry obv. #FML

But the wine .. NO ONE WILL TAKE THE WINE AWAY. I hope.


I’ve been sharing a couple valentine’s day prep recipes the last couple of weeks .. but I feel like I’ve left the best for last.


These are dense … and filled with cream cheese cinnamon goodness. Whether V-day will be spent with you celebrating over a bottle of wine, with your loved ones, or out with the girls, there’s always room for Whoop whoooooop whoooopppiiie pies!


Cinnamon cream cheese Red Velvet Whoopie pies


  •  1-½ cup Flour
  • 2 Tbsp Cocoa powder
  • ¼ cups Sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 Tablespoon margarine, melted
  • 1 cup Milk
  • 1 tbsp vinegar
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • Red food colouring

  • 1 cup Cream Cheese frosting
  • 1/4 Tsp Lemon Juice
  • 1 Tsp ground cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350ºF.

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper

In small bowl combine milk and vinegar – allow to sit while you prep the rest of ingredients

In a medium bowl, sift  flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, and  sea salt. Whisk to combine. Create a small well in the center of the bowl. Pour in butter, vanilla & milk mixture

Stir until just combined.

Add red food colouring

Using a large cookie scoop, scoop onto prepared pan. Bake 7 Minutes, rotate pan and then bake for another 8 minutes.

Remove from oven and allow to cool.

In a medium bowl, combine Cream Cheese Frosting, lemon juice & cinnamon

Slice each Whoopie in half and fill with frosting

Cupid’s Secret Kiss Cookies


Do you remember when you were in elementary school and got to decorate baskets or papers bags for valentine’s day. Do kids still get to do that? If I got to decorate one today, it would be the cheesiest thing ever – there would be tons of sparkles, tons of paper lace … I’d go straight Martha Stewart on that bad boy!!

Why don’t we get to do fun stuff like that at work – seriously kids, I know it sounds so messed up, but DON’T BE IN ANY RUSH TO GROW UP … I mean yea, it’s cool .. I get to eat cookies any time of the day, I technically don’t have a bed time ( granted, I’m seriously dead tired by 11:00!!), and I suppose there’s no home work … unless you count; running errands – cooking – cleaning – laundry – paying bills … seriously SLOW DOWN AND ENJOY.

Eat as many fruitroll-ups as possible,  and pop tarts … and make cookies, and then eat them all warm from the oven. Okay, so maybe you can be any age to do that!!

Look at these puppies, just chillin’ out maxin – relaxin … heh, they look like regular everyday red velvets don’t they?!!?

No no nooooo booo-boooos – waaaacchhhhaaaa! Secret kisses all tucked away inside and sugar dusted for that little extra special V-day lovin’ !!


 Cupid’s Secret Kiss Cookies

1 cup butter, softened

1/2 cup Granulated Sugar

1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract

1 ½  cups flour

¼ Cup sifted cocoa powder

1 Tbsp Red Food Colouring

1 package chocolate candy kisses ( I used peppermint, but you’re more than welcome to use your favourite kind)

1 Cup Powdered Sugar

Cream butter, sugar and vanilla in a large bowl.

Gradually add flour and cocoa powder .

Beat on low-speed until well blended.

Add food colouring.

Taking 1 table spoon at a time, ball the dough around each kiss chocolate.

Make sure the entire kiss is secretly enclosed.

Repeat with remaining dough.


Chill all of the dough balls for 1 hour ( this allows the cookie to keep it’s ball shape)

Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350 12 minutes.

Remove from oven and allow to cool completely.

Roll in powdered sugar.


Wrap and gift to your funny little valentine aka dump them on a plate and begin a Bridget Jones diary marathon.

Canadianfied Red Velvet fudge

I was SO good for once.BEFORE an actual holiday I made a sweet treat;

I had the recipe written – photographs taken

– this little delight was even consumed BEFORE canada’s day!!

I was all wooo-hooo (p.s I’ve realized I’m a woo-girl … I’ve decided to embrace it) I’m on a roll.

Canada’s Day came and I was all – – ooooo fireworks

And then I needed a day to recup.

Before I knew it – It was the 4th of July and I was all – – ooohhh sparkly , fireworks and BBQ ( even though we live in Canada, any excuse for bar-be-que works for me 🙂 )

Let’s celebrate life instead … in a red and white fashion

(… yeasss – – that would work)

Or we could just ixnay on  celebrating anything and just eat these little morsels of love because they will give you a sugar high faster than any willy wonka factory.

On that note – – these babies are saaaawwwweeeetttt.

Like VERY sweet.

But they are yummy – -and easy and sparkly 😀 

Canadianfied Red Velvet fudge

1 Cup White Chocolate Chips – Divided 1/2 cup by 1/2 cup

1/4 Cup Red Chocolate Candy Melts

1/4 Tsp Baking Soda

1/4 Tsp Sea Salt

1 Cup Condensed Milk

1 Tbsp Clear Vanilla Extract

1 Tbsp Red Food Colouring

1 Tsp Cocoa Powder Red ( or any colour your little heart desires) sprinkles/sparkles/pretty shiny bits


Lightly spray a large sheet of foil with cooking spray.

Line an 8 inch square pan with your greased foil, keeping the greased side up.

In a large microwave safe bowl, mix together the 1/2 cup white chocolate chips – red chocolate candy melts – baking soda and sea salt.

Add the condensed milk.

Microwave in 45 second intervals, until your mixture is smooth and velvety (this should take approximately 3 minutes).

Add vanilla, food colouring and cocoa. Working quickly, pour into your prepared pan.

Allow to chill for at least 1 hour ( or over night … if you can wait 😀)

Time to get funnnkayy!

In a small microwave safe bowl, melt the other 1/2 cup of white chocolate chips.

Smooth over your chilled fudge.

Make it sparkle!!


*also totally acceptable for Christmas, valentines day or any other day you feel like embracing a little red and white action *
